Troubleshooting Search Results: Showing the Wrong Agency On Top
If your agency's search results are not showing your agency at the top, this indicates the system is linking your agency to the wrong parent or regional agency. To resolve this:
- Check your Agency Profile
Log into your agency administrator account and navigate to your agency profile. Verify that the Regional Agency field is linking to the correct parent agency immediately above yours in the jurisdiction hierarchy.
For example, if you are a local fire district, the regional agency should be the County Fire Department or Forestry Department that oversees your area.
- Update the Regional Agency if incorrect
If the regional agency listed is not your direct parent agency, update it by selecting the correct agency from the dropdown menu.
Be sure to save your changes after updating.
- Confirm the fix
After updating your regional agency, check that the agency now listed is the next level up from your agency. For example, if you are a local fire district, the regional agency should be the County FD.
- Redo a search test
Conduct a new address search on your website. Verify that your local agency now appears at the top of the results, followed by the regional parent agency, and then less local agencies.
The search results should follow the jurisdiction hierarchy, listing agencies from most local to state level. If your agency still does not show up first, contact us to troubleshoot further.
Getting the regional agency link correct is key for search results displaying agencies in the proper order. Setting this field appropriately tells our system the relationship between agencies so we can return the results accordingly. Please let us know if you have any other issues getting your agency to appear at the top of searches!
